To all zine authors and independent magazine publishers: we’ve received an email from Germany, where Calin Kruse, of the dienacht magazine (“Magazin für Fotografie, Gestaltung und Subkultur”), is presently compiling an inventory of the zine world.
He’s asking all participants to fill out a quick questionnaire that will allow him to include your works in his upcoming book. There will be 1500 copies of the book, which we hope to carry in our online book store.

The DISTROBOTO network of vending machines that sell local music, films, books, zines and arts and crafts was born on January 25, 2001 at Casa del Popolo in Montreal. By 2009, more than 30 000 works created by more than 600 different artists have been sold through these vending machines, all for just $2.00 each (of which $1.75 goes directly to the artists.)
The event also celebrates the four new DISTROBOTO machines installed in various City of Montreal libraries/ cultural centers. For more information and the locations of the 12 Distroboto machines, visit www.distroboto.com
A interesting E-mail that We received today :
We are putting on a two day zine fair spectacular at Sheridan College in Oakville, On, on February 12 and 13, from 12-5pm. and we would like to invite you to attend as a vendor! it is called Gettazine 2009!
Tables are 3’x3’ and are FREE! All you have to do is give a zine or cash donation to the Sheridan Zine Library! Transportation is easy from Toronto. If you don’t have a car you can take the Go Train and from the Go Station there is a 60 cent bus that will take you directly to the college!
The shcool is located on 1430 Trafalgar Road, if you sign up to be a vendor I will contact you with more detailed travel information.
Please let know as soon as possible if you plan on attending the fair. You can attend both days or just one! There will be live music all day, and the fair is conviniently located next to the college pub, food vendors, washrooms and an ATM. Last year was the first annual Gettazine and it was a great success! This year we are advertising twice as hard, and the fair is going to be twice as long, therefore it will be a billion times as awesome!
If you have any zine friends who you think might be interested in attending please pass this email on to them, and check out
http://gettazine.blogspot.com for latest news and information.
Sincerely Jen Pilles and the Sheridan College Zine Team

Expozine, Montreal’s annual small press, comic and zine fair, will take place on Saturday, November 29 and Sunday, November 30, 2008, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 5035 St-Dominique [map] (Église Saint-Enfant Jésus, between St-Joseph and Laurier, near Laurier Métro). Free admission.
This incredible event brings together over 250 creators of all kinds of printed matter – from books to zines to posters and comics – in both English and French. In the past seven years, Expozine has become one of North America’s largest small press fairs, attracting thousands of visitors as well as exhibitors from as far afield as Chicago, Toronto, Ottawa, and Quebec City!
At Expozine, one can discover a multitude of publications and printed works that are often difficult to find anywhere, much less all in the same room! The result is a rare opportunity to peruse the work of hundreds of young and emerging authors, publishers and artists, and to see what the winners of last year’s Expozine Alternative Press Awards are up to. Not to be missed!
